Remember, Monday August 22nd is back-to-school day for many area schools. Watch for kids as they get on and off the bus. Many of them are excited too and may not be paying attention. Also remember to leave yourself extra time to get to work in the morning as the buses will be back on the highways. Make this day a safe one!
Before the school buses hit the pavement this year, make sure your kids know what to do if there is an accident involving a power line. Stay on the bus!
SmartHub Web, our innovative tool for managing your HOEC account, has had a facelift! The new SmartHub Web launched Wednesday, August 17th, with an updated interface that is even easier to navigate on screens of any size.
It’s National Safe Digging Day! Did you know you are responsible for repairs if you strike an underground line while digging? Keep your pets and everyone else in your family safe: Call 811 two to three business days prior to digging.
We currently have 398 members without power in the Eminence area and 39 members in the Winona area. Dispatch is aware of the outages and crews are working on the issue. This July has proven to be a HOT and DRY month and we want to say THANK YOU to our members. During the past few weeks, we have had to issue many PEAK ALERTS and you responded by conserving your usage. Your efforts made a huge difference. Hopefully the weather is cooling some and bringing some much-needed rain to the areas. As always, we appreciate our cooperative family.
Weather forecasts are calling for triple-digit temperatures today. We’re issuing a PEAK ALERT and encouraging HOEC members to reduce their electricity usage from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The extreme heat and longer run time on HVAC units could set a peak that affects power costs in the future.
