Weekend Storms Produced Power Outages

Approximately 1,300 members across the HOEC system were without power as a result of storms that moved through the service area over the weekend. Cooperative personnel began working to safely restore power to all members. Damaging high winds and lightning were the main cause of outages. High winds blew trees down from outside the right-of-way onto the power lines which resulted in one broken pole and multiple lines down.

HOEC would like to remind its members to ALWAYS stay away from downed power lines and report them to the cooperative immediately. Myles Smith, Manager of Member Services said, “We greatly appreciate the patience of our members as personnel worked to restore power.”
