Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative was one of 30 Missouri electric cooperatives recognized by the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC) for working safely in 2023.
"We are proud of the steps these cooperatives have taken to ensure each and every employee goes home to their families safe at the end of every day," says Johnie Hendrix, vice president of risk management and training for AMEC. "We offer a tremendous amount of training always stressing safety. But in the end, it is the employees themselves who have created a culture of safety at the cooperatives."
"Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative has a strong culture of safety, and it is one we continue to grow and work on daily" says Dan Singletary, CEO and General Manager of HOEC. "This award represents no lost time during the calendar year in 2023 and for that we are thankful. Safety is not something that happens by luck. It is the result of intentional planning, thinking, training and action."
The recognition came at the 2024 annual meeting of AMEC, which is the Jefferson City-based statewide service organization for Missouri’s electric cooperatives.
