Update on Weekend Storm Outages

Approximately 445 members were without power following storms that moved through the area on Friday afternoon. This was followed by approximately 900 members being affected due to storms that moved through on Sunday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched and began working immediately in the stormy conditions to safely restore power. Both storms affected cooperatives and municipals outside the HOEC service area. High-winds coupled with saturated grounds caused trees from outside the right-of-way to fall onto lines causing the lines to fall to the ground. As a result of this weekend’s storms, 7 power poles were broken.

HOEC would like to remind members if they see a downed power line, please stay away from it and report it to the cooperative immediately at 417-256-2131 or 1-888-HOE-POWER. If you need to report an outage, please do so by calling our 24 hour dispatch at 417-256-2131 or 1-888-HOE-POWER. You can also report an outage on the cooperative website at www.hoecoop.org.

Please note that Facebook is not equipped to report outages. Direct phone calls and online outage reporting go directly into our outage management system. Facebook messages do not.

Myles Smith, Manager of Member Services said, “High-winds and saturated grounds are never a good mix. Trees outside the right-of-way can fall onto our lines causing the lines to come down and even break power poles. Our crews worked diligently to safely restore power to our members, and as always, we appreciate the patience of our members during outages."
