Area Students Attending CYCLE in Jefferson City

Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative, Inc., is pleased to participate in the 2018 Cooperative Youth Conference and Leadership Experience (CYCLE). This year, Tiffany Daugherty of Bakersfield and Taylor Van Steenis of Eminence (pictured above) were chosen as delegates to represent HOEC.

Two high school Juniors from our service area are selected each year to attend the CYCLE conference in Jefferson City along with other high school students from across the state. Students learn about the history of cooperatives, Missouri State Government, and have the opportunity to hear from motivational speakers.

CYCLE delegates participated in a team building exercise designed to teach them how electricity is generated and how electric cooperatives distribute that electricity to you, our members.

CYCLE delegates received presentations from Craig Moeller, Director of Risk Management and Training at the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC), and Johnie Hendrix, Training Instructor at AMEC. Craig spoke to the delegates about the “Life of a Lineman.” He addressed the many challenges and dangers that Linemen face daily. Johnie focused his presentation on “Being a Leader Today.”

More updates on the students' activities at CYCLE are being posted to the Cooperative's Facebook page.
