Widespread damage and outages from storms

Officials at Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative, Inc. (HOEC), report that approximately 2,300 members are currently without power due to the severe weather and unprecedented amounts of rainfall that have moved throughout the service area. The mass levels of water make restoration of power very difficult for our crews. For the first time, HOEC suspended restoration efforts in the evening hours of April 29th due to the extreme conditions. At approximately 7:00 a.m. this morning, crews were allowed to resume working to safely restore power to the members. Officials have been notified of at least 40 lines that are without power. HOEC would like to remind members if they see a downed power line, please stay away from it and report it to the cooperative immediately at 417-256-2131 or 1-888-HOE-POWER. Outage updates will be posted on the HOEC Facebook page. Please note that Facebook is not an avenue to report an outage. If you need to report an outage, please do so by calling 417-256-2131 or 1-888-HOE-POWER. You can also report an outage on the cooperative website at www.hoecoop.org. Myles Smith, Manager of Member Services at HOEC said, “This is certainly an unprecedented event. This is more water than we have seen in a long time. We want our members to know that we are working through this, and we certainly appreciate their patience.”
