Ten simple ways to lower your electricity bill

1. Change that filter
A clogged furnace filter can force your heating and air-conditioning system to work harder. Keep a good supply of filters on hand so that you don't run out. Write the date you changed your filter on the end of the filter. Mark your calendar to as a reminder to change the filter monthly.

C.A.R.E. Video Series: Affordable Electricity

This video, the second in the C.A.R.E. series from Associated Electric Cooperative (of which HOEC is a member), looks at the many ways that Cooperatives work to provide their members with affordable electricity.

Safety through Education

Eddie Goins of Sho-Me Power Cooperative recently spoke on behalf of HOEC to school bus drivers at West Plains High School about what to do in case of a bus accident involving downed power lines. The program teaches methods of keeping students and the drivers themselves safe in such a situation.

Commitment to Safety extends to communities

Recently, Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative invited Fire Fighters, First Responders, and Construction Personnel to an electrical safety seminar. Pictured is Jeff West, HOEC Operations Manager, leading a seminar held at Eminence High School for persons attending the meeting from Shannon County. Keep Electricity Affordable

Missouri Electric Cooperatives are wind energy leaders

When the wind blows, energy flows for Missouri electric cooperative members. Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AECI), the power generating supplier for Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative members, was the first in Missouri to pursue energy from the wind and began receiving energy from the first utility scale wind farm located in northwest Missouri (the Bluegrass Ridge Wind Farm) in 2007.

System upgrade completed in Oregon County

Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative crews have completed a significant upgrade of service to members in Oregon County, east of Thayer in the area of Couch and south to the Arkansas state line.
